RIO DE JANEIRO, March 28 (Xinhua) -- Brazilian company Indaia Minalba, under one of the country's largest conglomerates Edson Queiroz Group, announced on Wednesday its purchase of Nestle Water in Brazil.

The acquisition means Indaia Minalba will take over the control of water brands Sao Lourenco and Petropolis, and the corresponding plants in the states of Sao Paulo, Rio de Janeiro and Minas Gerais, according to its statement.

Furthermore, Indaia Minalba will have the license to produce Nestle Pureza Vital and the right to distribute global brands Perrier, San Pellegrino and Acqua Panna.

"We are very happy with this acquisition. Nestle Water Brazil, recognized and respected around the world, will increase our portfolio of mineral water and prepared drinks," said Abelardo Gadelha Rocha, the CEO of Edson Queiroz Group.

According to the CEO, the association will reinforce the company's entrepreneurial profile.

"Certain important steps taken over these 67 years of hard work have contributed fundamentally to (our) success and credibility. We are certain that this acquisition is another of these important steps," he said.

Nestle Water will maintain a presence in the Brazilian market through its Nestle Pureza Vital brand, albeit produced and distributed by Indaia Minalba.
