BEIRUT, April 5 (Xinhua) -- Lebanese President Michel Aoun on Thursday called on Kuwaiti citizens to visit Lebanon over the summer.

Aoun made the comment at his meeting with Kuwaiti Minister for National Assembly Affairs Adel Musaed al-Kharafi, who is heading a delegation to Lebanon.

"The Lebanese are happy to welcome their Kuwaiti brothers to spend their summer in Lebanon, especially when the stability enjoyed by Lebanon has a direct impact on tourism and development," a statement from Aoun's office quoted the Lebanese president as saying.

The president described the Lebanese-Kuwaiti relations as "solid and deeply rooted brotherly," saying Kuwaiti Emir Sheikh Sabah al-Ahmad al-Sabah "has supported Lebanon in regional and international forums."

The Kuwaiti delegation will attend an inaugural meeting between Kuwaiti and Lebanese municipalities, the first of its kind between the two countries.

The meeting will focus on food safety.

The delegation said the second municipal meeting will be held in Kuwait next year.
