BEIJING, April 6 (Xinhua) -- China recalled about 3.2 million cars in the first quarter of the year, with more than half of them being Japanese brands, official data showed.

About 2.5 million recalls were made in February alone, up 360.8 percent year on year.

Japanese brands were involved in about 51.2 percent of the total.

Among them, the joint venture between Japanese automaker Nissan and China's Dongfeng Group reported the most recalls mainly due to faulty brakes.

Airbag inflators provided by Japanese firm Takata also led to major recalls.
