Tokyo stocks open higher on Wall Street's lead, eased geopolitical concerns

TOKYO, April 13 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks opened higher Friday following Wall Street's solid lead overnight on robust corporate earnings and easing geopolitical concerns pertaining to Syria.

As of 9:15 a.m., the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average gained 189.14 points, or 0.87 percent, from Thursday to 21,849.42.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, added 12.32 points, or 0.72 percent, at 1,730.84.

Marine transportation, metal product and nonferrous metal-linked issues comprised those that gained the most in the opening minutes after the morning bell.
