Tokyo stocks open higher on Wall Street's solid tone

TOKYO, April 18 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks opened higher Wednesday as Wall Street's overnight advance set a positive tone, with investors keenly eyeing the Japan-U.S. summit taking place in Florida.

As of 9:15 a.m., the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average added 180.15 points, or 0.82 percent, from Tuesday to 22,027.74.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, gained 11.58 points, or 0.67 percent, at 1,741.56.

Electric power and gas, real estate and construction-linked issues comprised those that gained the most in the early minutes of trade after the morning bell.
