KAMPALA, April 18 (Xinhua) -- Several foreign players have registered to play in the 2018 Uganda Pro Circuit tournaments that will run April 27 to May 28th at the Lugogo Tennis Club in the capital Kampala.

Alvin Bagaya, the administrator at the Uganda Tennis Association (UTA) told Xinhua on Wednesday that a total of 140 elite players from all over the world have entered the International Tennis Federation (ITF) sanctioned Circuit.

"Several highly ranked players will be coming for the Circuit because they are assured of scoring world ranking points when they participate," said Bagaya.

Russia's Ivan Nedelko who is ranked 261 by ITF together with Fabrizio Ornago from Italy ranked 430 are some of the top players who will embrace the ITF Pro Circuit in Kampala.

The Pro Circuit will attract other players from India, Spain, Argentina, Japan, Serbia, Austria, Morocco, South Africa, Kenya, Rwanda, Botswana, Germany, Uganda, Mexico, Ireland and Colombia among others.

The Pro Circuit comes to Uganda after the country paid its 22,500 U.S. dollars debt that had accumulated over a five-year period. The money was paid to ITF and the Confederation of African Tennis.
