RIYADH, April 20 (Xinhua) -- Saudi air defense forces intercepted on Friday a ballistic missile fired toward the border city of Jazan from Yemen, Al Arabiya local news reported.
It is the latest in a fresh spate of missile attacks by Houthi rebels, but Saudi air defense forces said most of the missiles were intercepted.
Col. Turki al-Maliki, spokesman for the Arab Coalition forces fighting in Yemen, said at a press conference on Monday that the Houthis have so far fired 119 ballistic missiles against Saudi Arabia.
He also warned that a military campaign will be launched against the Houthis if the threat continues.
Saudi Arabia has been leading a war against Houthi militants in Yemen in support of the government since 2015, where airstrikes and clashes between armed groups have led to thousands of deaths.
