WUHAN, April 29 (Xinhua) -- It was not an easy day for defending champion Tai Tzu Ying in the final of badminton Asian Championships, but the current world No. 2 survived hard challenge from home favorite Chen Yufei to lift the trophy again with a 21-19, 22-20 win here on Sunday.

"In the beginning of the game, I had too many faults. So I was trying to tell myself to 'calm down'," Tai, 24, said.

It was Chen's second defeat to the former world No. 1 this year, eighth of her career, after she had lost to Tai at the All-England Open last month, where the latter eventually won the title.

"Chen is always improving. In fact, she played more consistently than me today and gave me great pressure," Tai added.

As the highest-ranked player from Team China, Chen said that she was satisfied with her performance in Wuhan this week.

"Generally speaking, I played at my level today. But at some key points, I was not as determined as my opponent, on which I should improve in the future," Chen said.

In the women's doubles action, third-seeded Yuki Fukushima and Sayaka Hirota sinked second seeds Ayaka Takahashi and Misaki Matsutomo 21-18, 18-21, 21-15 in an all-Japanese final.
