SHANGHAI, May 5(Xinhua)-- A pair of strikes from Piao Cheng and Cedric Bakambu gave Beijing Guoan a comeback 2-1 away victory over Shanghai SIPG in the Chinese Super League here on Saturday.

Guoan's coach Roger Schmidt said:"I am really happy about the victory. We had a difficult period during the match. Shanghai played a good game and seized the opportunity in the first-half. But we quickly scored the equalizer which was important for us. We had stamina problems in the last phase, but we fought to make up for that."

SIPG missed Oscar while Guoan's U23 player Wei Shihao returned to action after suspension. The host team took the lead on 28 minutes when Zhang Yu's error sparked an encounter, Hulk drew several defenders and squared for unmarked Elkeson to find the net.

However, SIPG were dealt a blow before the break as Hulk limped off when dribbling and was replaced by Lv Wenjun which became a turn point of the game.

Guoan put them back on level terms just one minute into the second half, midfielder Piao Cheng bombed forward to head in Renato Augusto's cross from the left side.

The away side rode the momentum and quickly added the second when Augusto's low pass deflected off the defender and turned into an assist for Bakambu to beat Yan Junling.

SIPG's Wu Lei had the ball in the net on 65 minutes but was correctly flagged offside.

SIPG had strong penalty appeal in the dying minute when the ball kicked Guoan defender Liu Huan's arm, but the referee waved play on and confirmed his judgement by the assist of VAR.

Guoan move into the third place after a two-game winning streak, SIPG still remain the top spot after a three-game winless streak but will drop to the second if Shandong Luneng beat Beijing Renhe on May 6.
