GAZA, May 12 (Xinhua) -- Israeli fighter jets on Saturday night launched intensive airstrikes on military targets and facilities that belong to Islamic Hamas movement in the town of Beit Hanoun in northern Gaza Strip with no injuries reported, medical sources said.

Eyewitnesses in the town said they heard a series of explosions after Israeli jets fired several missiles at several targets in the town, adding that most of the airstrikes targeted empty fields, where an electric generator was damaged.

Flames were seen coming out from the targeted places, and medical sources said that no injuries were reported after around eight successive airstrikes were carried out on the town.

Meanwhile, an Israeli army spokesman said in a press statement that Israeli army air forces carried out a series of airstrikes on northern Gaza Strip, targeting a tunnel that belongs to Hamas militants and other military facilities in the area.
