GAZA, May 15 (Xinhua) -- Two Palestinians were shot dead Tuesday during clashes with Israeli soldiers in the eastern Gaza Strip, as the Palestinians marked the 70th anniversary of the Nakba Day, or "the Day of Catastrophe."

A young man, whose identity is still unknown, was killed east of the al-Bureij refugee camp close to the border with Israel, Ashraf al-Qedra, spokesman of the health ministry in Gaza, said in a short text message sent to reporters.

Earlier in the day, al-Qedra said 51-year-old Nasser Ghurab was shot dead by Israeli gunfire at the same spot.

A total of 250 were injured on Tuesday, he added.

The Israeli army has killed 62 Palestinians and wounded more than 1,700 others since Monday, when the U.S. relocated embassy to the disputed holy city of Jerusalem, fuelling more violent protests among the Palestinians.

Since the start of the "Great March of Return" mass rally on March 30, the Israeli army has killed 111 Palestinians and wounded more than 10,000 others.
