VIENTIANE, May 18 (Xinhua) -- Laos will pin its judo medal hopes for the Asian Games in Indonesia this October on a team of its three best of each male and female fighters.

According to local daily Vientiane Times on Friday, 13 Lao judo athletes are training for the Games. However, the Lao Judo Federation plans to announce the names of its six best fighters in June who will be heading to the Asian Games.

Lao Judo Federation official Mayouly Phanouvong said the three men will compete in the under 60, 73 and 81 kg divisions with the three women in the under 48, 57 and 78 kg categories at the Games.

At the 2014 Asian Games in South Korea, the Lao judo team was comprised of three men and two women but the team came back without medals.

Meanwhile, the best juniors are set to compete at the Buenos Aires 2018 Summer Youth Olympic Games in Argentina this October.

Midrange plans for the sport include preparing competitors for the 30th SEA Games in the Philippines in 2019.

Some 20 men and nine women from the Lao national judo team attended training and examinations in the capital of Vientiane in February.
