HONG KONG, May 29 (Xinhua) -- Two men have been arrested over last week's smash-and-grab raid on a luxury jewellery shop in Hong Kong's Harbor City mall, police said Tuesday.

Two robbers smashed the display of a jewellery shop in the mall in Tsim Sha Tsui district on Wednesday evening and stole diamond jewellery worth 5 million Hong Kong dollars (about 640,000 U.S. dollars). They finished the robbery in several minutes before making their escape.

A 60-year-old man was arrested on Monday in nearby Yau Ma Tei district. The police said they found all the stolen jewellery in a bag with the man, including a 10-carat diamond worth around 1.7 million Hong Kong dollars (about 220,000 U.S. dollars).

The man was taken to the scene on Tuesday by police officers for a crime re-enactment.

Another man aged 55 in connection with the robbery was arrested on Sunday in nearby Jordan district.

Local radio RTHK quoted Chief Inspector Frances Lee from the Yau Tsim police district as saying that investigations are continuing and more suspects may be arrested.
