RIYADH, June 5 (Xinhua) -- Saudi air forces on Tuesday destroyed a ballistic missiles that targeted the western city of Yanbu after being fired from neighboring Yemen, Al Arabiya local news reported.
The missile that was shot from Yemen by Houthi militias was part of frequent attacks against various areas in the kingdom, mainly border cities. Saudi Arabia has been leading a war against Houthis in support of Yemeni exiled government.
The spokesman of the Saudi-led coalition in Yemen, Colonel Turki al-Malki, told a press conference on Monday that the Yemeni city Saada is still being used as the central launch pad site of ballistic missiles.
He also stressed that the coalition is working to stop the smuggling of Iranian weapons to the Houthis through the port of Hodeidah in repeated accusations that Iran stands behind the instability of Yemen through the endless support of the Houthi rebels.
