BERLIN, Jun 26 (Xinhua) -- Nuremburg defender Lukas Muehl and his club have agreed to a contract extension ahead of schedule, the newly promoted Bundesliga side confirmed on Tuesday.

"I have been here for seven years now. My life has shifted to Nuremberg. Thus my contract extension was an easy decision," Muehl told the club's official homepage. The defender joined Nuremberg in July 2011 and made 43 appearances for the club.

"We are pleased that with Lukas we were able to integrate a home-grown talent into our planning for the coming years. His development is far from over yet but we are firmly convinced that he will make the next step," Nuremberg's sporting director Andreas Bornemann said.

Nuremberg sealed their eighth top-flight promotion, which is a Bundesliga record, after finishing in second place in Bundesliga 2 last season.
