GENEVA, July 6 (Xinhua) -- The UN Human Rights Council (HRC) in the final day of its 38th session on Friday adopted a number of resolutions including one to dispatch a team of two experts to Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) and another on Syria.

In a statement at the end of the June 18-July 6 session, during which the United States announced its decision to withdraw from the council, the HRC requested the High Commissioner for Human Rights to dispatch two international rights experts to the DRC.

The council mandated the two experts to report on the implementation by the DRC of the recommendations of the previous team of international experts especially regarding the fight against impunity and measures to promote reconciliation.

Earlier in the day, the HRC passed another resolution on rights in Syria, by a vote of 26 in favor, five against and 15 abstentions, to urge all parties to the conflict to comply with their obligations under international human rights law and international humanitarian law.

The council also demanded that all parties refrain from attacking civilians and civilian objects and that all parties work toward a genuine political transition based on relevant UN resolutions.
