JERUSALEM, July 6 (Xinhua) -- Israeli researchers are trying to use jellyfish to tackle the tiny plastic particles in sea and irrigation water, Israeli website "Ynet" reported Friday.

The research is led by Dror Angel, a professor of the University of Haifa in northern Israel, with researchers from Braude College in the northern city of Karmiel.

Angel and his team believe that the jellyfish can be used to isolate microplastics from water.

They will examine the possibility of using the mucus to capture and remove the microplastics from the recycled water of the wastewater treatment plant.
