HONG KONG, July 18 (Xinhua) -- Around 680 exhibitors from over 30 countries and regions gathered at the Hong Kong Book Fair, which opened Wednesday and offered readers an opportunity to "explore the world" through books and speeches by renowned writers from around the world.

As a highlight of the week-long event, a pavilion named International Cultural Village would spotlight consulates and cultural promotion organizations from over 30 countries showcasing their local books and cultural products, said organizer of the book fair, the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC).

The book fair would also include a World of Knowledge Seminar Series, at which renowned writers from countries such as France and Latvia would speak on topics related to history and literature or give advice on writing.

A total of about 310 cultural activities would be held during the week for visitors from different age groups and with various preferences to broaden their horizon and learn more about different cultures, according to the HKTDC.
