DUBAI, July 23 (Xinhua) -- The United Arab Emirates (UAE) on Monday "strongly condemned" the "terrorist attack" which targeted a security checkpoint in the Buraidah District of the Qassim Province in central Saudi Arabia, UAE state news agency WAM reported.

A member of Saudi Arabia's security forces and a foreign citizen were killed in the attack.

In a statement, the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation in Abu Dhabi said that the Gulf Arab state strongly condemns these "criminal acts" that threaten international security and stability.

The ministry also reiterated its persistent and principled position against all forms and manifestations of terrorism that target all, regardless of their religion and race.

The ministry expressed the UAE's condolences and solace to the government and the people of Saudi Arabia as well as to the families of those killed.

The UAE is part of the Saudi-led coalition which has been fighting anti-government Houthi rebels in Yemen since March 2015, as a well as of the Arab Quartet.

The latter term describes the group of four Arab countries which has been spearheading since June last year the diplomatic and economic isolation of Qatar which the quartet blames of supporting "terrorism."
