WUHAN, July 30 (Xinhua) -- A museum at China's Three Gorges Dam will collect historical objects from the public that will then be exhibited, China Three Gorges Corporation has said.

The Three Gorges Project, run by China Three Gorges Corporation, is one of the largest hydropower facilities in the world. It is a multi-functional water control system on the middle reaches of the Yangtze River, China's longest, consisting of a 2,309-meter-long and 185-meter-high dam, a five-tier ship lock and a ship lift, plus 34 turbo-generators with a combined generating capacity of 22.5 million kilowatts.

The Three Gorges Museum aims to better preserve the history and record the changes of the region's natural and cultural environment. Its construction has been accelerated since 2017, under the guidance of the State Administration of Cultural Heritage and the National Museum of China, said the China Three Gorges Corporation.

The objects solicited include any documentation, videos, tools and equipment relevant to the Three Gorges Project, especially those which reflect the development of China's hydropower industry.

The museum, built at the site of the Three Gorges Dam, covers 150,000 square meters. It is scheduled to open by the end of this year. It will be an important base for patriotic education and spreading knowledge in hydropower.
