TOKYO, Aug. 13 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks opened lower on Monday following a global equities rout late last week owing to concerns about Turkey's economy and the yen's appreciation against the U.S. dollar.

As of 9:15 a.m, the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average dropped 219.64 points, or 0.99 percent, from Friday to 22,078.44.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, fell 19.25 points, or 1.12 percent, at 1,700.91.

Bank, nonferrous metal and miscellaneous product-linked issues comprised those that declined the most in the opening minutes after the morning bell.
