TOKYO, Aug. 21 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks edged down on Tuesday morning as a firmer yen against the U.S dollar weighed on exporter issues and overall sentiment.
The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average inched down 6.55 points, or 0.03 percent, from Monday to 22,192.45.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, lost 4.28 points, or 0.25 percent, at 1,687.87.
Nonferrous metal, wholesale trade and rubber product-linked issues comprised those that declined the most by the morning break.
