BOGOR, Indonesia, Aug. 22 (Xinhua) -- Chinese paraglider Wang Jianwei broke his left leg due to a crash-landing at the Asian Games on Wednesday.

Wang, who was helicoptered to a hospital in Jakarta, was in stable condition, and will be sent back to China for further treatment, according to the Chinese paragliding team manager Ding Peng.

"He met tricky wind in the competition, unfortunately, which led to the accident," said Ding. "The air current can change its direction at any time, it is impossible to predict."

Wang, 36, with about 10 meters before the finishing point, could not control his parachute swayed by strong wind, according to Ding.

"As a result, the parachute lost speed and Wang crashed to the land, he touched the earth with his left leg first," Ding said.

"He suffered leg injury, and was sent to a hospital immediately," he added.

Paragliding, which makes its debut at the Asian Games, offers six gold medals at stake.
