JAKARTA, Aug. 23 (Xinhua) -- Chinese table tennis team had their first training session ahead of the 18th Asian Games campaign here on Thursday evening.

Chinese paddlers arrived in Jakarta on Thursday morning, and stepped on the court after adjustment in Athletes Village.

For most of Chinese players that had not played the Asian Games before, it was undoubtedly a brand new experience.

"The first training session was about adjustment. Most players had not lived in Athletes Village, so it was quite fresh for them.

"Although the first training session was scheduled quite late, players still did well," said Chinese team's coach Liu Guozheng.

World number one players Fan Zhendong and Zhu Yuling will spearhead the young squad in Jakarta with their previous experience of playing at the tournament.

"I feel quite excited about it. Hopefully I can better adjust myself to the Asian Games," said Fan.

"I was accustomed to the weather here. Light inside the venue was not quite bright, but I could keep my focus on training," Zhu pointed out.

Chinese players are expected to conduct their training session in the competition venue on Saturday.

The 18th Asian Games table tennis action will run from August 26 to September 1, with five titles up for grabs, including men's and women's team, singles and mixed doubles.
