Chinese shares close lower at midday

BEIJING, Sept. 3 (Xinhua) -- China's major stock indices ended lower in the morning session Monday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index dropping 0.94 percent to finish at 2,699.66 points.

The Shenzhen Component Index lost 1.1 percent to end at 8,372.67 points at midday.
