HONG KONG, Sept. 7 (Xinhua) -- A 7.8-magnitude earthquake hit 101 km east south east of Suva, Fiji, at 1549 GMT Thursday, the U.S. Geological Survey said.
The epicenter, with a depth of 608.6 km, was initially determined to be at 18.494 degrees south latitude and 179.332 degrees east longitude.
No tsunami warning has been issued following the earthquake.
