RAMALLAH, Sept. 10 (Xinhua) -- An aide to Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas said Monday that the Palestinian constant issues, mainly Jerusalem, are more important than the ties with the United States.

Nabil Abu Rdineh, spokesman of the Palestinian Presidency, made the remarks in an official statement in response to the earlier decision of the U.S. administration to close down the diplomatic representation of Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) in Washington.

"The U.S. decision of shutting down the office of the PLO in Washington won't change our position towards keeping and sticking to our Islamic and Christian holy places and sites," he stressed.

He went on saying that the Palestinians will carry on with being committed to the international resolutions and the decisions of the Arab League and Islamic Summits, adding "We will keep seeking to implement all these resolutions and decisions."

Earlier Monday, the PLO Executive Committee Secretary General announced that the U.S. administration has officially informed the Palestinians that the diplomatic office of the PLO in Washington has been shut down.

He said that closing the PLO office was to exert pressure on the Palestinian leadership to refrain from applying to the International Criminal Court in The Hague to sue Israel for committing war crimes against the Palestinians.
