TEHRAN, Sept. 14 (Xinhua) -- Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) on Friday downplayed the likelihood of any military conflict between the Islamic republic and the United States.

Lieutenant Commander of IRGC, Hossein Salami, said Washington is aware that "it will lose in any war against Tehran."

The option of war against Iran is out of the question because neither are the political and economic conditions right for the United States nor does it have an ally for a war against Iran, Salami said.

"In such circumstances, Washington will be the loser of any war against Iran," he said.

He stressed that Iran will give a "firm, destructive, and crushing" response to the enemies seeking to harm the country.

Earlier, Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei also ruled out the possibility of military attacks on Iran by the country's enemies.

However, the Iranian armed forces should remain vigilant and boost their capabilities on the daily basis, Khamenei said.

"The armed forces should enhance human and hardware capabilities ... and upgrade efficient management," he said.
