DAMASCUS, Sept. 14 (Xinhua) -- Rebels in Syria's central province of Hama on Friday destroyed a bridge connecting with a government-controlled town, state news agency SANA reported.

The rebels destroyed the Tweineh bridge which links the rebel-controlled town Tweineh with the government-controlled town Hurrah in the northern countryside of Hama.

SANA said the rebels had attempted to blow up the bridge earlier this month but failed to fully destroy it. On Friday, the rebels destroyed the remaining part of the bridge.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said the rebels had destroyed several bridges in the same area as part of the rebels' preparation to confront the anticipated military offensive in Hama and Idlib.
