TOKYO, Sept. 25 (Xinhua) -- The Chinese squad arrived in Sapporo, northern Japan on Tuesday for the upcoming FIVB Volleyball Women's World Championship to be held from Sept. 29 to Oct. 20.

China has announced the previous day the 14-member squad for the upcoming World Championship, spearheaded by star spiker Zhu Ting.

"For many players in our squad, this is their first World Championship. They don't have much experience to deal with the pressure from the opponents. Veterans that have played in the Olympics need to rise to the occasion when needed," said China coach Lang Ping on Monday.

The 2018 FIVB Volleyball Women's World Championship will kick off on Sept. 29. During the tournament, 24 teams from five continents will compete in 103 matches.

The teams will play in four groups, with six in each group, in the first round and the top four teams of each group will advance to the second round.

China was drawn into Group B together with Italy, Turkey, Bulgaria, Canada and Cuba, and will face Cuba in their opening match on Sept. 29 in Sapporo.

China won two titles at the FIVB Volleyball Women's World Championship in 1982 and 1986 respectively. The Chinese team coached by Lang Ping lost to the United States in the final in the previous tournament in Italy in 2014.
