MADRID, Sept. 25 (Xinhua) -- Real Madrid will be without Spain international midfielder Isco for at least a month after he underwent an operation for appendicitis on Tuesday.

The Malaga born midfielder missed Tuesday's training session ahead of Wednesday's Liga Santander match away to Sevilla and was instead taken to hospital for the emergency operation.

Real Madrid confirmed the news in an communique on their official website, saying his return depended on how quickly he is able to recover. However, the usual time for a footballer to make a full recovery from an appendix operation is around a month.

That would mean as well as Wednesday's game in Sevilla, Isco will miss Saturday's Madrid derby at home to Atletico Madrid as well as a Champions League trip to play CSKA Moscow and further league matches away to Alaves and at home to Levante on October 20.

As well as missing Spain's next international matches (against Wales and England), he is also a major doubt for the first 'Clasico' of the season between Madrid and FC Barcelona, which is scheduled to be played in Barca's Camp Nou Stadium at 16:15 hours on Sunday.
