Hong Kong action film "L Storm" continues to lead Chinese mainland box office

BEIJING, Sept. 26 (Xinhua) -- Hong Kong action thriller "L Storm" continued to dominate the Chinese mainland box office on September 23, China Film News reported.

The third installment of the Storm franchise has raked in 369 million yuan (53.7 million U.S. dollars) since it was released on the Chinese mainland on Sept. 14.

Domestic action film "Golden Job" is now in second place, bringing in a total of 157 million yuan at the box office since its release on Sept. 21

Paramount's action-packed "Mission: Impossible - Fallout", meanwhile, came in third making nearly 1.2 billion yuan at the box office since hitting Chinese screens on Aug. 31.

China's coming-of-age film "Cry Me a Sad River" took fourth place, gaining nearly 78 million yuan since being released on Sept. 21.

Ranking out of the top five was domestic crime film "Ash Is Purest White" directed by Jia Zhangke, with a total box office earning of 40.9 million yuan since hitting the big screen on Sept. 21.
