Chinese shares close higher Friday

BEIJING, Sept. 28 (Xinhua) -- Chinese stocks closed higher Friday with the glass industry leading the rally.

The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index gained 1.06 percent to close at 2,821.35 points. The Shenzhen Component Index closed 0.8 percent higher to end at 8,401.09 points.

Combined turnover on the two bourses stood at 263.21 billion yuan (about 38.27 billion U.S. dollars), down from 286.03 billion yuan the previous trading day.

The majority of industries saw a full-house rally with airplane manufacturing the weakest gainer, up 0.01 percent.

The glass sector rallied the most on Friday, with the sub-index up 1.83 percent. The Hubei-based Feilihua Quartz Glass Co., Ltd rose 4.79 percent to close at 14.88 yuan per share. Sub-new stocks and the furniture industry are also among the gainers, with the sub-indices up 1.56 percent and 1.52 percent, respectively.

The ChiNext Index, China's NASDAQ-style board, gained 0.78 percent to close at 1,411.34 points Friday.

In September, the Shanghai Composite Index rose 3.53 percent, while the Shenzhen Component Index and the ChiNext Index was down 0.76 percent and 1.66 percent respectively.
