DC United defeat Impact to close in at playoff spot in MLS

WASHINGTON, Sept. 29 (Xinhua) -- DC United came closer to the sixth and final Eastern Conference playoff spot with a dominating 5-0 win against the visiting Montreal Impact in the Major League Soccer (MLS) actions on Saturday night.

Wayne Rooney scored twice and added an assist, Paul Arriola scored twice, and Luciano Acosta scored once and added three assists.

Now United are seventh with 38 points, just two points behind sixth-placed Impact. United have two games in hand.
