SINGAPORE, Oct. 4 (Xinhua) -- Singapore stocks closed lower on Thursday, with the benchmark Straits Times Index (STI) went down 1.1 percent or 35.81 points to close at 3231.59.
A total of 1.65 billion shares changed hands with a turnover of 1.12 billion Singapore dollars (about 809.52 million U.S. dollars). Losers outnumbered gainers by 281 to 136.
The STI index went up 0.76 percent or 24.75 points to close at 3267.4 on Wednesday.
