GABORONE, Oct. 8 (Xinhua) -- Botswana's President Mokgweetsi Masisi is traveling to London on Monday at the invitation of the British government to attend the 2018 London Illegal Wildlife Trade Conference.

Scheduled for Oct. 11 to 12, the conference is expected to bring together global leaders to help eradicate illegal wildlife trade and better protect the world's most iconic species from the threat of extinction.

"Botswana has, along with several other countries, committed to taking decisive and urgent action to tackle the illegal wildlife trade in endangered fauna and flora in recognition of the significant scale and detrimental economic, social and environmental consequences of the illegal trade in wildlife," a press release said.

Masisi will share Botswana's experience and successes in dealing with illegal wildlife trade at the conference.

Two cabinet ministers and senior government officials will accompany him.
