KIEV, Oct. 8 (Xinhua) -- Ukraine has introduced a new speed camera system on the country's roads, aiming to reduce the number of traffic accidents and road casualties, the government press service said on Monday.
The speed cameras have been installed on the hazardous road sections of national and international highways across Ukraine, said a statement on the government's website.
From January to August this year, 1,919 people were killed and over 18,800 injured in 94,020 accidents on Ukraine's roads.
According to the National Police, overspeeding is the cause of 35 percent of traffic accidents in Ukraine with casualties.
