Pre-mature blast kills 2 IS militants in E. Afghanistan

ASSADABAD, Afghanistan, Oct. 13 (Xinhua) -- Two militants affiliated with the hardliner Islamic State (IS) outfit were killed and two others injured as their explosive device went off prematurely in Afghanistan's eastern Kunar province on Saturday, said a statement released by the army's 201 Silab Corps.

According to the statement, four IS fighters were planting a mine on a road in Chawkai district to strike security convoys, but the device exploded prematurely, killing two on the spot and wounding two others.

The IS outfit has yet to make comment on the incident.
