SAO PAULO, Nov. 9 (Xinhua) -- Brazil's Pietro Fittipaldi, the grandson of dual Formula One world champion Emerson Fittipaldi, has been named as the test driver for Haas next year.
The 22-year-old, who competed in IndyCar this year, will have his first outing for Haas at the year-end tyre test in Abu Dhabi later this month.
"I'm extremely appreciative to have secured a role with the Haas F1 Team as their test driver," Fittipaldi said.
"They've done an incredible job in Formula One, and to ask me to play a role in their continued success is naturally very exciting. I'm looking forward to getting behind the wheel of the VF-18 in Abu Dhabi. I'll carry that experience forward into 2019, and hopefully into a race seat in Formula One in the future."
Emerson Fittipaldi won 14 Grands Prix en route to world titles with Lotus and McLaren in 1972 and 1974, respectively.
