GAZA, Nov. 13 (Xinhua) -- One Palestinian was killed and three others wounded on Tuesday afternoon in a fresh Israeli airstrike on northern Gaza Strip, medics said.

Ashraf al-Qedra, Health Ministry spokesman in Gaza, told reporters that Khaled Maroof, 29 years old, was killed and three others injured in an Israeli airstrike on a group of militants in northern Gaza Strip.

Since Monday afternoon, a total of seven people were killed and more than 25 others wounded during the ongoing Israeli airstrikes on military facilities that belong to Hamas movement and Islamic Jihad militants in the Gaza Strip.

Efforts to reach a cease-fire between Israel and Hamas-led Gaza militants have so far failed. Local media reports in Gaza said that Egypt and the United Nations are exerting intensive efforts to reach cease-fire and restore calm in Gaza.

Meanwhile, Saeb Erekat, secretary general of Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) executive committee, announced that the committee will hold an emergency meeting on Thursday to discuss the current escalation.
