TOKYO, Nov. 14 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks closed marginally higher Wednesday as some of the gains from dip-buying in early trade following the market's rout a day earlier were erased by selling on concerns over Chinese retail data.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average added 35.96 points, or 0.16 percent, from Tuesday to close the day at 21,846.48.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, finished 2.81 points, or 0.17 percent, higher at 1,641.26.

Electric power and gas, air transportation, and metal product-linked issues comprised those that gained the most by the close of play.
