ISTANBUL, Nov. 16 (Xinhua) -- A Turkish court on Friday sentenced six people to aggravated life imprisonment over their involvement in a terror attack on Istanbul's Ataturk International Airport in 2016.
The Istanbul 13th Heavy Penal Court found the suspects guilty of "violating the constitution and deliberately killing 45 people," the state-run Anadolu Agency said.
The court handed down 46-time-aggravated life terms for each defendant and sentenced them to a total of 2,604 years in prison for attempting to kill 142 people and damaging property, according to Anadolu.
On June 28, 2016, three suicide bombers blew themselves up after storming the Ataturk airport with automatic weapons, killing 45 people and injuring 163 others.
Turkey blamed the Islamic State for the attack.
