BERLIN, Nov. 25 (Xinhua) -- Borussia Monchengladbach reaped their third straight win after overpowering Hannover 4-1 and Werder Bremen left it late to secure a 1-1 draw at Freiburg at the closer of the 12th round in Bundesliga on Sunday.
Hannover grabbed a fairy tale start on the road as Bobby Wood opened the scoring with just 22 seconds played after slotting home a pass into path from Niclas Fuellkrueg.
The "Foals" remained unimpressed and restored parity through Thorgan Hazard, who curled the ball from inside the box into the far post corner with seven minutes into the game.
Dieter Hecking's men took over and controlled the proceedings on the pitch before the hosts turned the tides in the 44th minute when Michael Lang tapped home from sharp angle to make it 2-1 on the scoreboards.
After the restart, Monchengladbach continued where they left off and extended the lead in the 58th minute as Lars Stindl volleyed home Thorgan Hazard's delivery into the box.
The hosts remained on the front foot and put the result beyond doubt after Denis Zakaria had all time and space to score with a well-placed effort into the far post corner in the 77th minute.
With the result, Borussia Monchengladbach recaptured the 2nd place with a four-point gap to front runner Borussia Dortmund. Meanwhile, Hannover recorded their seventh defeat of the season to stay on the 16th place of the standings.
"I am glad that we were able to wrap up a victory today. We started with a setback but responded in a great manner. I think we sealed a deserved win today," Monchengladbach head coach Dieter Hecking said.
Elsewhere, Werder Bremen secured a late 1-1 draw against Freiburg to recover from three losses in row.
Freiburg broke the deadlock before the break, as Luca Waldschmidt made no mistake from the spot. Bremen pressed frenetically but had to wait until the dying seconds of the game before Ludwig Augustinsson ensured a late 1-1 draw.
