KUNMING, China, Nov. 27 (Xinhua) -- The 2018 Mengla Tropical Rainforest Cross Country Running Competition will kick off in Mengla county, Xishuangbanna Dai Autonomous Prefecture in China's southwest Yunnan province next month.
According to organizers, three categories were organized for the multi-day competition, including a 21-kilometer cross country race, a 30-kilometer race and a 21-kilometer race.
"The participants will run through a typical tropical rainforest, [they will see] the Wangtian Tree, which is more than 60 meters high and [also] experience Xishuangbanna ethnic minority culture and local food," Li Xiaomei, the spokesman of the organizing committee said at a press conference.
300 running enthusiasts from all over the world will traverse the primeval forest, tropical rainforest and karst cave. The event will start on December 30, 2018 and end on January 2, 2019.
