NAIROBI, Nov. 30 (Xinhua) -- Former women's world half marathon record holder Florence Kiplagat of Kenya will have a chance to return to the middle step of the podium when she lines up at the Tata Steel Kolkata 25K road race on Dec. 16 in India.

Compatriot Amos Kipruto, who enhanced his reputation at the Sept. 16 BMW Berlin Marathon where he finished second to the world record breaking run by fellow countryman, Eliud Kipchoge, is also hunting for victory in the men's race.

"I have been training in earnest for the Kolkata challenge and I'm aiming to finish my rewarding year in the best possible manner; with a victory," Kipruto told Xinhua on Friday.

Race promoters, Procam International unveiled their stacked international field with Kiplagat and Kipruto featuring prominently.

The target for the men's field is the course record of 1:13:48 set by Ethiopian distance running legend Kenenisa Bekele last year.
