RIO DE JANEIRO, Dec. 3 (Xinhua) -- Onyx Lorenzoni, future chief of staff of the newly-elected President Jair Bolsonaro's administration, confirmed on Monday that the country's Labor Ministry would be dismantled.

The confirmation was made during a press conference in which Lorenzoni said that Bolsonaro's administration will have 22 ministries.

Lorenzoni said the Labor Ministry will be dismantled and its functions will be divided among three other offices: the ministries of justice and public security, economy and citizenship.

The Labor Ministry released a statement criticizing Bolsonaro's intentions, saying that the removal of the Labor Ministry is an attack against the Constitution.

Bolsonaro had already announced the removal of the Labor Ministry, but backed off after much criticism.

The future chief of staff said the department in the Labor Ministry which handles the labor unions will stay under the Justice and Public Security Ministry.

The offices which take charge of job creation and solidarity economy will be transferred to the Citizenship Ministry, a new office to be created when Bolsonaro takes office in January.

The public policies related to labor and inspection will be transferred to the Ministry of Economy, another new office which will result from the merger of three ministries, finance, planning and budget, as well as industry and foreign trade.
