TAIPEI, Dec. 19 (Xinhua) -- A delegation of Shanghai led by Executive Vice Mayor Zhou Bo arrived in Taipei Wednesday for an annual forum between the two cities, which is scheduled to open Thursday.

Upon his arrival at the airport, Zhou told the media that the forum serves as an important platform for exchanges and cooperation between the two cities and plays an exemplary role in cross-Strait city-to-city exchanges and cooperation.

Stating that Shanghai is building itself into a global hub in the financial, shipping, trading and sci-tech innovation sectors, Zhou said he hoped the two cities could create new friendships, gain new knowledge and share new fruit of development during the forum.

Themed "sustainable city, sustainable development," this year's forum focuses on circular economy and exchanges in fields such as health care, culture, public housing and city renovation, and environmental protection in a bid to deepen exchanges and cooperation in various aspects between the two cities.

The Shanghai-Taipei forum has been held by the two cities in a rotation since 2010, and 30 agreements so far have been inked between the two cities.
