Earlier, in August, Qatari senior official announced that Qatar would expand two air bases including Al-Udeid.

Al-Udeid, which is considered the largest U.S. base in the Middle East, is home to the U.S. Air Force Central Command.

Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, and Egypt cut diplomatic, trade and transport ties with Qatar in June 2017, accusing it of supporting terrorism. Doha denies the charge.
