VIENNA, Jan. 2 (Xinhua) -- Unemployment in Austria declined 6.7 percent year over year in December to see some 414,000 jobless in the country, the social affairs ministry has said.
This takes the total unemployment rate in the country down 0.7 percent to 8.7 percent per Austria's domestic calculation criteria, or down 0.2 percent to 5.1 percent as per European Union criteria, the ministry said Tuesday.
The tourism industry saw a notable 8.3 percent decline in the number of unemployed persons for the month, while construction also saw a 7.3 percent fall, it said.
The good news from the labor market will continue in 2019, an analysis by business consultant Ernst & Young showed.
