KUNMING, Jan. 4 (Xinhua) -- A former senior official of southwest China's Yunnan Province is being prosecuted for bribery, the province's discipline authority said Friday.
Cao Jianfang is suspected of "taking advantage of his position to seek benefits for others and pocketing huge amounts of bribes," according to Yunnan's provincial commission for discipline inspection.
The commission said Cao's illegal gains would be confiscated and his retirement perks canceled.
Cao was demoted from the post of secretary general of the provincial party committee in 2015 for a serious disciplinary violation.
